Arsenal Synergy measures how a pitcher's mix plays together beyond individual pitch grades. Two pitchers with identical Stuff+ grades can have very different results because of how their pitches complement — or fail to complement — each other.
Arsenal Synergy leaderboard →Arsenal Synergy measures how well a pitcher's repertoire works together as a unit — capturing interaction effects that individual pitch grades miss. A pitcher with average individual pitches but great contrast and tunneling can outscore one with a dominant pitch and weak fillers.
We predict residual CSW (called strikes + whiffs beyond what Stuff+ alone explains) using RidgeCV regression. Positive residual means the arsenal adds value beyond individual pitch quality. The model is trained on 2021–2024 data to capture the modern game, including the sweeper revolution.

Stuff+ Correlation
100 = league average synergy.
115+ = elite synergy (top 16%) — the arsenal works exceptionally well together.
85 or below = poor synergy — individual pitches may be good, but they don't complement each other.
Synergy is independent of Stuff+ — a pitcher can have average stuff but elite synergy, or vice versa.
