PLoc+ starts from the current season's pitch-location behavior and projects next season's DLoc+. If DLoc+ answers, "how well did this pitcher actually locate the pitches he threw," PLoc+ answers, "how much of that command signal should carry forward into the next year?"
That makes it a season-level forecast that belongs next to DLoc+, not in place of it. DLoc+ is descriptive and pitch-by-pitch. PLoc+ is aggregated and forward-looking: source-year location behavior in, target-year expected DLoc+ out.
PLoc+ reads pitcher-season aggregates derived from how pitches were located across contexts, shapes, and situations.
The output is a projected descriptive-command grade for the following season, displayed as source-year PLoc+ to target-year DLoc+ in the app.
Version 1 appears on MLB pitcher pages, compare, leaderboards, and stat selection surfaces. AAA/minors views intentionally hide it until the underlying scoring exists there too.
